Well all you Country Girls out there, the fashion world is trying to nudge in on our long standing “look” and make it their own. Actually, this is a resounding trend with the fashion world, not an original idea to speak of. I just love seeing them introducing the “New” trends and saying to myself ”I wore something just like that when I was 10″. Anyway….onto 2014 trend forecast posted online.

Lets start with hair trends. Braids and an overall “country cowgirl” feel. The clothes they are showing on the runway and in early print show the same twist. Country with an almost perverse feel. Don’t get me wrong, I have been part of the fashion world for over 25 years.

I bring a different perspective to the table. It is really hard to come up with a new idea, fresh concept. I have found that the modern cop-out is to resort to old ideas and add something to it like “shock value”. That way the designer has left their own mark. Is this a good thing? You have to decide that . I have found very few “Ideas” that have been improved upon by shock value. I have found though that technology has made it possible to improve textiles, dyes, notions, etc. and that has allowed for improvements on designs that I think the original designers would be most happy with.
