One of the ones I am currently working on is in the Each Other section ….#9 Farmgirl  Gratitude.

I guess, to be honest I held off on this one because in my stressed out busy life, I sometimes forget to slow down and say thank you to the one person who deserves the true thanks.  The one who brings it all together and makes it all work.

My husband and I do a nightly devotion with our children, hoping and praying that they make the right choices in life.

That they will be thankful—-grateful for what their heavenly father has given them and done for them.

Today I had a BIG reminder of how God puts everyone in the right place at the right time.  It is a snow ball thing and I am not even sure if I could relay the chain if I tried.

But I have a wonderful son, who is very talented in Art( God blessed him) but God also gave him a thorn. He is Bi-Polar and has a mild case of Aspergers . I recognized a problem early on because of the house hold I grew up in.  My husbands employer for some “unknown” reason switched insurance on us forcing us to seek out a new Dr.  which led us to the only Ped. Dr. available on the plan (Dr. Gesn.).  She sent us to have Andrew tested by a Dr. Frye who turned out to be one of my clients new husband.  He was very kind and patient with Andrew.  Both Dr. Frye and Dr. Gesn knew and recommended Dr. Wuttke who is a leader in the field for child hood Bi/p, adhd, odd, asp. but that it would be hard to get an appt.  So I prayed and then I called.  We saw him the next week and he accepted Andrew as a pat.   That was 8 years ago.  He has had wonderful success in regulating Andrews meds. and he has a wonderful relationship with Andrew and us as parents.  The drug companies have been  another story.

Chris went to work for Entergy 5 years ago and so came a new insurance.   They refused to cover name brand for one of Andrew’s meds.   Problem is….the generic does not work. Out of pocket is $800.00 a month.  But God sent us to the Dr. and group who did the actual study on the drug and had documented proof so Dr. Wuttke was able to get it approved for coverage straight away.

Now my husband has gone to work for Nalco (big blessing from God)  New insurance doesn’t want to cover med.  In steps Dr. Wuttke.  I just got a call from their office they were approved in 2 days time.  Yeah !!!!!! Because the med. has gone up in price to 1150.00 a month out of pocket.

Next miracle …….Andrew often questions how God is going to use this (thing)  he has been asked to bare.  He can get really down sometimes.   I get down for him sometimes too.  It is a hard road to walk.  He is scared to start relationships.  Only this year (his senior year) has he even reached out to form a friendship and it is with a kid who is in a similar situation.

But there is a lady at church, I don’t even know her,  we go to a fairly large church in the city, who came up to me a few months ago and wanted to know if she could speak with Andrew.  She said that she had been watching him at church and praying for him and didn’t know why.  That she just couldn’t get him off of her mind.  She would like to talk to him and then talk to us afterwards.

Since then she has spoken to Andrew several times and written him several  notes of encouragement.  She spoke with Chris and I last Sunday and said that she spends a great deal of time praying for Andrew and she isn’t sure why just that she knows it is something she has been called to do.  That she knows he meant for something important.

Thank you God for special people being in the right place at the right time.

Sooooo Ready For Spring https://parishfarmgirl.com/2014/02/18/sooooo-ready-for-spring/ https://parishfarmgirl.com/2014/02/18/sooooo-ready-for-spring/#comments Tue, 18 Feb 2014 15:09:42 +0000 https://parishfarmgirl.com/?p=775 Tomato Plants grown from seed, waiting to transplant Dill, Oregano,Basil Goodwin Creek Lavender

It is foggy out this morning, but the temp. is 58º and rising, so the fog will be burning off soon.  The expected high today is 76 º. Yeah!!!  I went to a Garden Club Meeting last Thursday and the guest speaker was from The Baton Rouge Herb Society. She was wonderful.  I have a lovely herb garden, but I am no where near as knowledgeable as her.  They had plants for sale and of course I stocked up on a few of my favorites.  It was warm  and sunny yesterday so I started getting my garden cleaned and prepped from the new additions.  My broccoli is still producing and the spinach looks great along with the cabbage.  The carrots are coming along nicely.  I think the main things that really need to be done are tidying up and soil amending.

I did learn a really great trick for my Lavender.  So for my Lavender is doing pretty well but I would like it to do  even better.  Lavender struggles in Louisiana because of the wet conditions.  I have mine high on a hill with great drainage and plenty of breeze, so it is pretty happy,  I am going to take her advice and not just amend the soil but add lime stones to the soil and cover the top of the soil completely with the lime stones.

So may great things ahead.  My daffodils have started blooming.  My tomato plants are growing like crazy in my kitchen window, just waiting for a chance to go outside.  I have herb plants and seeds to plant.   Veggie seeds to plant.   Come on Spring……

I have a lot to do and  I need you to co-operate.

How Was Your Valentines? https://parishfarmgirl.com/2014/02/15/how-was-your-valentines/ https://parishfarmgirl.com/2014/02/15/how-was-your-valentines/#comments Sat, 15 Feb 2014 18:40:19 +0000 https://parishfarmgirl.com/?p=769 imageAs I said before, I love Valentines.  It makes me think of  everything I love, not just my Sweetheart—-who I love a whole bunch.

Chris really out did himself this year making me feel loved.  We have as a couple been so stressed out.  His job was on the block this year , but God provided him with a new – even better job.  That required him to be out of town for two weeks — in Chicago during the vortex.  But my sweet took the time to shop for beautiful yarn for me to crochet and knit with just because he knows it makes me happy.

This week has been so busy.   The girls were sick the first part of the week.  I had Garden Club.   Aidan had baseball every afternoon and Thursday night we had a family night at school, so we didn’t get home until late, but I still had 75 sugar cookies to finish because my three youngest children give those out with their Valentines at school.   Chris always stays up with me when I have project like that going on…..to keep me company.    The cookies came out cute, but I forgot to take pictures.  I have a picture of one of the Ok looking ones in my Recipe Box along with my Sugar Cookie Recipe.  The really cute ones looked very 1920′s Flapper Girl/Mustache Man.

After being up most of the night with me on the cookie quest, Chris got up early and me Breakfast in bed.   He gave three white roses for my bathroom,  a dozen red roses for our bed room, and a box of Dark Chocolates (my favorite ).  Chris is a very gifted writer Unlike me, and he wrote my a beautiful poem in the card he gave too.

And on top of everything else, he brought supper home from one of our favorite restaurants so we would not have to cook.   No going out,  you ask?   Well I spent all day driving 2.5 hrs. one way to New Orleans to take our oldest child to see his Dr.  and the closet restaurant to our house that is worth the trouble is an hour away.  Bringing the restaurant home was so much more romantic to me.

I have a very sweet, thoughtful romantic husband who made this Valentines very special for me.
